Planning of a hydrogen pipeline between Albbruck and Dogern
badenovaNETZE GmbH planned the construction of an approx. 9 kilometre long gas pipeline for hydrogen (H2) near Albbruck and Dogern. Here, the hydrogen is produced by a 50 MW electrolysis plant and taken over by the producer after the pressure increase. The DN 250 hydrogen pipeline has an operating pressure of 70 bar and will transport 8,000 tonnes of hydrogen per year.
The pipeline route, which was planned by engineering firm Firtz Spieth, is intended to connect industrial operations and a hydrogen refuelling station. In the initial planning phases, the routing and possible variants were analysed and then transferred to the design planning stage.
The technical challenges in this project included laying the pipeline in a section along the banks of the Rhine, crossing the Alb using a pipeline bridge, several trenchless crossings of the B34, two crossings of the DB railway tracks and 6 water crossings.
